In recent weeks, České dráhy has been coming up with innovations which make travelling by train easier for customers. Passengers who use on-line check-in procedures and buy their tickets on the web site or through the My Train application are now automatically informed about changes in their journey. In the event of a change in the train configuration, the system will now take care of changing the seats of the passengers. Passengers without seat reservations onboard long-distance trains will find it easier to identify available seats.
České dráhy is improving the online information of checked-in passengers in case of any changes occurring during the journey. The system newly automatically evaluates timetable changes compared to the purchased ticket. The passenger is thus automatically informed about any changes by means of an e-mail message, SMS or notification in the My Train application. The information is newly sent to passengers at predetermined times one month, one week, one day before the journey and on the day of the journey.
Automatic changes of seats based on changes in the train configuration are also newly launched. If a train changes its train configuration and such a change affects a passenger who has already purchased a ticket, the system will now automatically move them to another place onboard the train. Passengers are then automatically informed about the seat change. The conductor also has complete information about the changes in seats of passengers and can advise them on where to find their seats.
Another innovation concerning seat changes will simplify travel for people who use long-distance trains without seat tickets. The revised graphic seat selection charts will make it easier to find available seats onboard the train. Concerning the trains just before departure and the trains which are already on their way, passengers will now be able to see at a glance which seats are not sold and are intended for passengers without tickets. Previously, the seats for which the reservation period had ended, usually two hours before departure, were marked as occupied. In reality, however, some of these seats were free, but the possibility of purchasing a reservation for these seats was restricted. Nevertheless, the possibility of purchasing so-called express reservations continues to exist. Easier orientation in the carriage should result in smoother and more comfortable boarding of the train and occupation of seats. Passengers without a seat reservation can then be sure that they have not occupied the seat of someone with a purchased seat reservation.
České dráhy is continuously developing innovations in the field of online check-in procedures, primarily in cooperation with the technological company “CHAPS”, which is a part of the České dráhy Group.
Online check-in has other advantages as well. During the purchase of a ticket in the e-shop or in the My Train application, České dráhy offers a seat reservation free of charge for most long-distance domestic train connections. The free seat reservation is also valid onboard the trains crossing the border of the Czech Republic if purchased in time at least 14 days before the journey, both in the outward direction from the Czech Republic and in the inward direction from abroad.
