The manufacturing company Škoda Group has obtained the so-called type approval for the 640.2 units from the Rail Authority. Thanks to this fact, the trial operation of the three-car RegioPanter second-generation units has been completed and the other train sets produced can be gradually put into regular operation after their takeover from the manufacturer. This also applies to a pair of the brand-new RegioPanter electric units, namely 640.209 and 640.210, which were taken over by České dráhy yesterday. They increased the number of new three-car RegioPanter units in the Olomouc Region to 5 train sets. Each of them has a seating capacity of 234 seats and offers wheelchair-accessible travelling to passengers in air-conditioned compartments with an on-board Wi-Fi system.

Five of the latest 640.2 RegioPanter units are already in operation in the Olomouc Region. "We expect a delivery of two more train sets still this month. With each newly delivered unit, we are extending our rolling stock with comfortable regional vehicles. The electric units are air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible, they have comfortable seats, and passengers can charge their small electronics there or get connected to a Wi-Fi network. At the same time, we are decommissioning older carriages with each new train set," says Jiří Ješeta, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director General of ČD for Passenger Transport.

There will be running 27 three-car RegioPanter electric units of the new generation in the Olomouc Region. Their deliveries will be performed continuously until the beginning of spring 2024.

Together with three RegioPanter units delivered to the region in 2012, 30 modern train sets from the Olomouc depot will gradually ensure regional transport services on electrified railway lines of the region. They will offer fast and environment-friendly transport services to the inhabitants of the region on such railway lines as Olomouc – Uničov – Šumperk, Olomouc – Zábřeh na Moravě – Kouty nad Desnou, Olomouc – Prostějov – Nezamyslice, Olomouc – Přerov – Hranice na Moravě – Vsetín and Přerov – Nezamyslice – Vyškov na Moravě. Thanks to the high driving dynamics and modernisation of the railway infrastructure, the new train sets offer fast travelling possibilities across the region. For example, the journey from Olomouc to Šumperk now takes only 50 minutes by a fast train, whereas previously it took more than one hour, and the route from Uničov to Olomouc is covered by fast trains in just 18 minutes.
