We help each other on the railways. The ČD Group’s ŽELEZNICE SRDCEM Endowment Fund supported 24 more railway employees and their families

The ČD Group's ŽELEZNICE SRDCEM Endowment Fund established for the purpose of providing support to all railway employees and their families in difficulty continues its mission. At its meeting today, the Management Board granted a total of 24 requests for assistance. This means that 24 families in a difficult life situation will receive a significant aid through the ŽELEZNICE SRDCEM (“Railway with the Heart”) Endowment Fund. A total of CZK 6.5 million has been distributed today. The financial resources are crucial to cover a wide range of needs, from medical expenses and support aimed at children's education by acquiring the necessary aids to provision of the basic necessities of life for those who have found themselves in a difficult situation.

“After today’s meeting of the Management Board, 24 families in a difficult situation will receive a significant aid through the ŽELEZNICE SRDCEM Endowment Fund. Among these beneficiaries you will find also the family of our colleague, a train driver, who died in a tragic accident on 24 January 2024 at the level crossing near Dolní Lutyně. This is a huge tragedy which has deeply affected all of us,” says Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Management Board of the Endowment Fund and at the same time also Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of České dráhy.

ČD Group employees and the general public show their solidarity by making regular financial contributions to the Endowment Fund’s transparent account. This continual support confirms that the ČD Group community stands firmly shoulder to shoulder and provides support to those facing difficulties under the motto “We are on the same track”.

“The Endowment Fund provides an opportunity for each of us to contribute for the purpose of mitigation of the consequences of tragic events and of provision of the assistance to those who find themselves in a difficult life situation. The fact that both employees across the ČD Group and the general public contribute to its transparent account is also proof that the ČD Group's ŽELEZNICE SRDCEM Endowment Fund has already made its mark on people's consciousness,” points out Tomáš Tóth, Vice-Chairman of the Endowment Fund and at the same time also Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČD Cargo.

The ČD Group's ŽELEZNICE SRDCEM Endowment Fund was established in mid-2020. Since its establishment, it has helped almost 200 of our colleagues – railway employees and their families who needed us in the most difficult moments in their life, through joint efforts of all the involved donators. The assistance is not limited to the ČD Group employees only, and support is also provided to colleagues from the ranks of employees of Správa železnic (Railway Infrastructure Administration) and other carriers and companies operating on the Czech railway network. Last year, the Endowment Fund helped in fifty cases and paid out CZK 5,767,500 in the aid provided. Since its establishment, the Fund has thus disbursed aid amounting to CZK 13,810,000.
