Do you know how to save 44.68 kg of CO2? Just choose a train instead of a private car for a travel between Prague and Ostrava. The new marketing campaign of České dráhy, which you will encounter in the outdoor environment, online and on social networks from the beginning of May, focuses on emphasising the ecological aspects of train travels. A part of this project is also the special website cd.cz/vlakemEKO.
The new campaign is the result of the national round of the competition known as Creative Express, where ten teams of young professionals travelled by train between Prague and Bratislava and back to produce creative designs for an eco-friendly train travel information campaign. The result is the concept entitled “Think of Yourself, We Think of the Planet for You,” from the workshop of Kristýna Schönová and Adrián Kachman. “The new campaign perfectly combines the benefit of convenience in two ways – comfort as an opportunity to use your own time when travelling by train, and the convenience of eco-friendly behaviour, which is ensured by the very choice of train as a means of transport. At the same time, we appreciated the suitability of the campaign for the target group and the smooth implementation of the concepts,” says Jakub Otava, Director of the Communications Department of České dráhy. “The new campaign also has one special feature as well – it is the first marketing campaign of České dráhy in which AI tools were used, in this case for the creation of the visual component,” adds Radka Vlažná, Head of the Marketing Department at České dráhy.
České dráhy wants to raise public awareness of these issues, as it is the most sustainable form of public transport, and thus it follows up to the ecological campaign known as “Cars vs. Trains”. Within the framework of the campaign, people will learn how much smaller their carbon footprint is when they travel by train between large Czech cities in comparison to the use of a private car.
According to the analyses evaluating greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution of our environment, such as dust and noise, railway transport is the most environment-friendly mode of transport for passengers and freight. České dráhy will continue to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the coming years. The introduction of modern, fuel-efficient trains, the deployment of battery trains on non-electrified lines, trains with the possibility of electricity recuperation or diesel trains which can use the latest version of the environment-friendly HVO fuels will contribute to this strategy. Thanks to recuperation, last year the electric passenger and freight trains of the České dráhy Group produced and supplied almost 50,000 MWh of electricity to the transmission grid.
