The technicians of České dráhy are going to take over another three modern Siemens Vectron locomotives from the RSL leasing company this day and tomorrow. These machines will be the 33rd, 34th and 35th locomotives provided by this company. The RSL company is to provide České dráhy with a total of 22 new Siemens Vectron locomotives in the course of this year. The total number of locomotives of this type in operation at the end of the year will rise to 50 from RSL, 10 locomotives being provided by ELL and one Vectron belonging directly to České dráhy.

From 2026, this locomotive fleet will be supplemented by another 50 Siemens Vectron high-speed locomotives designed for a speed of 230 km/h, which were ordered directly by České dráhy from Siemens Mobility.  These machines will be used also for traction of the ComfortJet train units and will be approved for operation in the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria. Twenty locomotives will be used in Denmark as well.
The Siemens Vectron locomotives are equipped and prepared for operation under the supervision of the ETCS control system, which is to be mandatory on selected sections of the Czech railway corridors from 1 January 2025, and the locomotives will use it also on some foreign railway lines. The locomotives currently being taken over have a maximum speed of 200 km/h and a power output of more than 6,000 kW. The modern technology enables the use of energy recuperation when braking or driving on downward gradients, thus reducing the energy consumption costs and the carbon footprint in the railway transport operation.

České dráhy operates the Siemens Vectron locomotives on national and international services from Flensburg in northern Germany to Budapest, from Františkovy Lázně to Žilina, and also to Warsaw in Poland. Among the railway transport services the traction of which is ensured by these modern locomotives it is appropriate to mention such express or fast trains as Berliner, Metropolitan, Ostravan, Západní expres, Krušnohor or Slovácký expres.

The last three locomotives to be taken over belong to the 193 class according to the German registration system and their numbers are 975, 976 and 977.
