Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of České dráhy, took over the prestigious World Passenger Award 2023 in the on-board service category last week at the world forum known as “World Passenger Festival 2023”, which took place on 4 and 5 October in Vienna. The Czech national carrier succeeded among almost forty nominated state-owned as well as private carriers from around the world, including such companies as RegioJet, Switzerland-based SBB, Austria-based ÖBB, France-based SNCF, Germany-based DB, the UK-based GWR or LNER, the U.S.A.-based Amtrak and Japan-based JR Central.
"The World Passenger Award for onboard services is an award for all employees of České dráhy who ensure a pleasant travel experience. Some of them are directly involved in the provision of services on the board of our trains, others take care of the preparation of trains and services in the background, and another group is working on the development and improvement of services provided on the board of our trains. I consider winning the award as a recognition of the high professionalism of our staff. High-quality employees are the greatest asset of any company. The award also recognises the range of services offered on the board of České dráhy’s trains, such as the on-board Wi-Fi network, the refreshment offers from the large dining cars to ČD Minibar services, provision of the entertainment and information portal services, the quality of transport for wheelchair users, and the organisation of bicycle transport. At the same time, the award obliges us to further develop our services and provide them at a high level,” says Michal Krapinec.
The World Passenger Awards were introduced to recognise the positive experience and efforts of carriers around the world to improve the level of the services provided. These awards are a unique opportunity to highlight those who are making a positive impact on the lives of passengers in a service sector where negative feedback is heard above anything else. However, this should be seen primarily as a means to further improve service quality. The awards cover various aspects of passenger support, including availability, accessibility, staff effort, comfort, food quality and environmental initiatives.
Nominations for these awards were carefully selected on the basis of the data from Twitter (now Network X), which allowed the inclusion of transport operators from different countries and regions. Organisations had to demonstrate a significant level of positivity in the relevant categories and a clear collection of relevant data reflecting a positive passenger experience.
By winning the World Passenger Award, České dráhy has confirmed its exceptional position in the field of on-board services and made a commitment to strengthening the quality of its on-board service. This award is also a reward for all České dráhy’s employees who endeavour every day to provide excellent services on the board of the trains operated by České dráhy.
České dráhy would like to thank its passengers for their support and will continue to provide safe, comfortable, high-quality and environment-friendly travelling for all citizens and visitors coming to the Czech Republic.
