With the publishing of the 2026 timetables, the advance sale of tickets and seat reservations for the future timetable, which will come into effect on December 14, 2025, is starting as well. Depending on the train lines and conditions of partner carriers in international transport, advance sales and seat reservations are possible up to 180 days before the planned journey.
“These days, the reservation system for the period from December 14 is gradually starting and ticket sales for the period of validity of the new timetable are beginning. This advance sale takes place at the current prices of the tickets, until midnight on Saturday, December 13, 2025. This means that you can now reserve your seats for journeys during the busy Christmas and New Year holiday period,” points out Jiří Ješeta, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director General of ČD for passenger transport.
From Prague to Ostrava newly with a seat reservation only
There will be two significant changes in the field of seat reservations for train services of České dráhy from December 14, 2025. Seat reservations for SC Pendolino trains will become noticeably cheaper. The price of these reservations will be unified for all services, route sections, and both carriage classes at CZK 35, and in the case of online shopping the passengers buying their tickets will receive their seat reservations free of charge, in a similar way as in the case of other train services of České dráhy. This will result in a considerable reduction in the price of travelling on the board of SC Pendolino trains. Along with a significant reduction in the price of seat reservations, there will also be a change in the range of complimentary refreshments, which will be brought into line with other EC/IC-category trains. On Pendolino trains, only first-class passengers will continue to receive complimentary water, and on the section with mandatory seat reservations (Prague – Ostrava), they will receive a welcome drink as well.
The other significant change is the introduction of mandatory seat reservations on all commercial trains on the Ex 1 line between Prague and Ostrava. Until now, seat reservations were only mandatory on SC Pendolino trains and on selected InterCity Ostravan express trains. Now, mandatory reservations will newly be required also on other EC/IC trains on this line in the Prague – Ostrava section, e.g. on the Ostravan services continuing from Ostrava to Žilina, or on the Silesia trains to Poland. Seat reservations will be mandatory for all journeys on these trains and between all stations, i.e. also between Kolín and Pardubice or between Zábřeh na Moravě and Olomouc. When buying tickets in the e-shop or in the My Train app, reservations will be automatically included in the ticket purchase free of charge, as is the case for Pendolino trains. If tickets are bought at the ticket office, the price will be CZK 35. When using network and time tickets, passengers can make their seat reservations for individual journeys free of charge online according to their travel plans.
For the other long-distance trains operated on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Transport, the current principle of seat reservations remains in place, which means that seat reservation is possible but not mandatory. Passengers can continue to use these trains without seat reservations as well. However, for longer journeys and journeys during peak travel times, the carrier recommends making seat reservations in advance.
