ČD Group’s Annual Report Newly Available Online Only. The Symbol of This Year’s Report Is a Whistle

The Annual Report of the ČD Group in a printed form has become a matter of the past since this year. Traditionally, České dráhy publishes its financial results for the past year in spring, this time on 25 April. Last year was a record-breaking year in the Group’s history. And it will also go down in history because of the fact that the Annual Report is no longer available in a printed version, as it has been the custom so far, but it is only available online. The symbol of this innovation has become a whistle printed on a 3D printer.

“Nature can blow its whistle.” Under this slogan, this year the České dráhy Group has come up with a novelty concerning its Annual Report. For the first time ever, the Report or a part thereof has not been printed, but is only available in a full online version. “At a time when virtually everyone has access to the Internet, it is no longer necessary to print hundreds of pages of paper with information which you can easily find and view on our website. This solution is friendly to nature, which therefore can blow its whistle, as we are used to saying here. That is why we found it interesting to place the QR code for downloading the Report symbolically on the whistle, which is also inherently linked to the railway and can be heard every time when a train departs. This whistle is also made of environment-friendly material and is printed on a 3D printer,” says Jakub Otava, Director of the Communications Department of České dráhy.

The whistle is made of corn starch. The environment-friendly fibre used is a type of plastic which is not made from petroleum but from renewable raw materials and is therefore a biodegradable material. The printing of the Annual Report of the ČD Group was reduced already last year, both in terms of the number of pages and from the viewpoint of the number of copies. For example, while the 2021 Annual Report was almost 200 pages long, the 2022 Annual Report published last year was less than 50 pages long, and everything else could be downloaded from the attached flash drive or via a QR code.

The Annual Report is a document reporting on the financial results for the past year and other important facts related to the ČD Group’s business activities. It contains all economic data as well as a variety of other interesting information about every firm operating within the framework of the Group. It also includes dozens of accompanying photographs.
