Within the framework of a joint project of České dráhy and the Police of the Czech Republic, the Police staff members have had a possibility of travelling on the board of the national carrier’s trains at a better price already for a year. More than 1,100 Police staff members have purchased the cheaper In Karta cards for this time. The presence of the Police staff members on the board of the trains also helps the train crew staff to deal with potential incidents.

“I do not perceive the discounted fare offer as just a small ‘thank you’ to those who risk their health every day to protect other people. We also want the Police staff members to travel by our trains, because if a safety incident occurs during a journey, our train crew staff can ask the Police staff member present on the board of the train for assistance, which will make dealing with such situations faster and more efficient. We have also received feedback responses from fellow train crews, indicating that they can feel safer when they know that there is a Police staff member on the train to whom they can turn if necessary. The experience of the last year shows that our cooperation is beneficial for both the parties,” says Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of České dráhy.

České dráhy, acting in cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic, launched a project aimed at increasing safety and speeding up the resolution of potential incidents on the board of its trains in March 2023. The members of the Police force can purchase a virtual In Karta card with IN 25, IN 50 and IN 100 discount applications for half the price in the My Train mobile application. The most popular option is to purchase the IN 100 application, which accounts for more than one half of all sales.

The Police staff members travelling by train have provided their assistance to the train crew staff already on several occasions, for example helping them to remove aggressive persons from the transport process.

“One of the ways with the help of which we are trying to stabilise the personnel situation at the Police of the Czech Republic is also to offer special benefits that we have been able to expand in this form thanks to our cooperation with České dráhy. The cooperation is mutually beneficial, as the mere presence of our staff members on the board of train services undoubtedly contributes to increased security, which is our common interest,” says Martin Vondrášek, the Police President.

In cooperation with the Police, České dráhy has also intensified its security activities against vandals and sprayers damaging the trains of the national carrier during the last year. More than 460 cases of spraying on ČD vehicles were registered last year. The damage incurred in connection with removal of their consequences exceeds CZK 15 million.
